My father died before WW II. When the war started my mother and I moved to a small town outside of Kyiv to my grandmothers’. We were hiding from bombs and shooting in the basement of our neighbors. After the war my mother brought me to my father’s mother to Kyiv. I was living at homes of both grandmothers who took full care of me since my mother was very sick. There was extreme poverty. I finished school in Kyiv and went to work at the factory that manufactured synthetic fibers.

Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?

My salary was good so I could provide both for my mother and a grandmother whose pension was very small. I worked in shifts it was very hard since it took me much time to get to work. I was tired and freezing. In 1961 I got married. I changed my job. In 1962 my first daughter was born and in 1970 – the second daughter was born. I graduated from technical college. I worked as an economist but my salary was not high. My husband did not make a lot either – he died in 1988 at the age of 51. My older daughter married a military and moved away. I had to get another job to support my younger daughter and my mother. In 1972 my grandmother died and in 2003 my mother died.

Tell about your present life.

I had to work till I was 75 to help my younger daughter. We live in the same apartment  complex. We do not stay in touch because of the conflict over ownership of our apartments. I have developed many sicknesses during my lifetime. I walk because my Savior supports me – I can feel it very well.

Have you accepted Christ? How long have you been following the Lord?

When I was living in Kyiv at my grandmothers’ she would always bring me to church. She taught me to pray before and after meals and in the evenings she was reading her Bible. She would explain to me what she was reading about. It was interesting.

Tell about one thing your sponsor needs to know about you.

I am happy for I have found St. Paul’s Church. It is joy of my heart. No matter how bad I feel I keep on going to the church. I cannot stay home alone.
