Tell about your childhood, school, family, etc.
I was born in a family of collective farmer. There were 8 kids in our family: 6 boys and 2 girls. I started school in 1946. I finished 7 grades and entered technical college in Kyiv, but did not go to Kyiv because in collective farms people were not paid salaries, father was disable after WW II and there was famine.
Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?
After I finished school I went to work. It was 25 kilometers to my work – I had to walk, I was hungry. Then I worked at railways construction – the work was manual, there were no technologies. Then I worked at a factory as a stoker. Then in 1956 I joined the army where I served for 3 years. Then I went to Kyiv where I worked at a factory as a smith. I was studying in the evenings and managed to finished all 10 grades of school. Then I worked at a different factory that manufactured new equipment. I was married. My wife had various chronic diseases. She died at the age of 57. We had no kids.
Tell about your present life.
Now I live in a facility for old people. My life has been hard. Poverty, famine, WW II, another famine, hard work and war again and I am left all alone. It is hard to be old, I am turning 86.
Have you accepted Christ? How long have you been following the Lord?
Since we were kids, we were raised in atmosphere of faith. 300 meters away from our house there was a church. My grandfather was the head of this church and my mother was singing in church choir. At my grandfather’s house there were often visiting priests. On every Christian holiday our family was in church. I remember singing hymns in our family.
