Tell about your childhood, school, family, etc.
I was one of the four children in our family. When the war started in 1941, my father was drafted into the army. He was killed in action in 1943. My mother had to tackle all the difficulties of life on her own. I remember bombardments in our area. We were so scared. We were hiding in the cellar. As soon as Kyiv region was liberated we went to school. We did our homework by a kerosene lamp. We were very poor.
Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?
I had to move to Kyiv to look for a job even before I was 16. Two years later, I was able to enter a school of commerce. Upon graduation, I worked as a salesperson in a grocery store. I worked two shifts – had to get up very early and returned home quite late. But I was young and energetic, and my colleagues respected me. I liked my job.
Tell about your present life.
After I got married, I gave birth to a son. But a great tragedy happened. My husband fell ill and died. My son was 7 at that time. It was hard, I was very worried that my son would be growing up without a father. I prayed – my grandmother taught us to pray.
When I came to St. Paul’s Church, I liked everything: Bible lessons, prayers, hymns. I enjoy attending our church. I read the Bible and pray every day. The Lord has helped me on many occasions. Glory be to Jesus Christ!
Have you accepted Christ? How long have you been following the Lord?
I received Christ a long time ago. I read the Bible and pray. The sermons and lessons that I hear at St. Paul’s Church have strengthened my faith. Jesus healed the people with so many different illnesses. He was also able to calm the wind and the rough sea. That’s why I turn with my problems to Him. Christ is my hope. I believe that he hears me and helps me. I will always follow Him!
