Savina, Zina
I was born on April 8, 1939, in Kyiv.
Description
Tell about your childhood, school, family, etc.
I grew up in Kyiv in one of the capital’s districts. My mom worked at a shoe factory, and my dad worked for the Internal Affairs Committee. He died in Babyn Yar trying to save Jewish families during the Second World War. I went to school and was very active in extracurricular activities. I also participated in scientific competitions. I graduated from the University of Trade and Economics, held managerial positions, and was a member of the city council. I married a military man. I have a son. He is an artist.
Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?
I worked mostly in trade, managing several large stores. I also held the position of senior economist. The working conditions were good. I retired during perestroika. In 1991 I came to God. First in the Full Gospel Church, then I served for a long time in the “Source” camp of the Baptist Union. Then a friend brought me to a church where Roger McMurrin was the pastor. I became actively involved in the ministry. I collected and delivered food packages, cooked meals, and cared for the sick who could not care for themselves. At the same time, I testified about the Lord to everyone. In 2013, I had a stroke. Now my son is my caretaker. He has been at St. Paul’s since 2018.
Tell about your present life.
Since 2021, I have been completely bedridden. My son and grandson take care of me. There is a constant need for medicines and diapers. I had the opportunity to go to Zurich for treatment, and I was determined to stay in Ukraine to see the victory over racism. I continue to pray for victory, for our military, our government, and for our allies who are helping our country. My son and his lawyer constantly have to remind the state to pay me financial assistance. I am so grateful for the food cards. We can buy food with them.
Have you accepted Christ? How long have you been following the Lord?
I have always believed secretly. And in 1991 I repented in the Full Gospel Church, then joined the Baptists and later Peter and Paul Church, Pastor Roger McMurrin and Stephanie’s Ministry.
Tell about one thing your sponsor needs to know about you.
I am infinitely grateful to Him for everything. Please do not leave my son Eugene behind when I leave this world and go to eternal life. I constantly pray for my sponsor, although I still do not know his name. If he wants, he will be able to communicate with his son.
Thank you for everything you do!
The word God gave me for my sponsor
“Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and no one will lie dormant or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span”. Exodus 23:25, 26
