Ours was a tight-knit family. Unfortunately, my dad died in 1946. My two sisters and I were brought up by my mother and grandmother (my father’s mom). Following my high school graduation, I worked for one year as a young pioneer leader. After that, my friends and I decided to move to Donetsk region.

Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?

Having competed vocational training, I worked as a crane operator. Later, I worked as the operator of a hoist at a coalmine in Horlivka. In 1964, my husband and I moved to Soledar. There I spent more than 30 years working at a saltmine. We worked in shifts. I liked my work. As a saltmine worker, I was allowed to retire at 50 with the so-called ‘’preferential pension’.

Tell about your present life.

After the war started, my husband and I fled to Kyiv. My husband is 91. We rent an apartment in Kyiv. Our rent is 5,500 hryvnia a month. We live with a hope that peace will be established in Ukraine.
