Tell about your childhood, school, family, etc.

I was 7 when I started school. I had to walk 4 miles to get to school. It was especially hard in winter for it was very cold. I had 4 brothers and a twin-sister – she is still alive. We did our best trying to help our parents.

Where did you work? Was your work good? Were you happy with your job?

After having served in the army I started working at the factory and later moved to my brother who lived in Donetsk then. There I worked at the coal-mine. In 1965 I entered a music college and after the third year of studying went to Lviv to enter Conservatory. After graduation I worked at the Concert Hall and then joined the Military Orchestra. Then I got married and moved to Kyiv with my wife and son. Here I worked at Choir Capella for five years. I always enjoyed singing. Then I worked at the Opera Theater for kids and the youth – there I also worked for 5 years. Then I worked at the National Opera till I retired.

Tell about your present life.

I have known the Lord since my childhood. I remember when I was 12 I asked one old lady to let me read her Bible – in it I saw the ocean of God’s wisdom and holiness. I always ask God for help when I face hardships and repent when I commit sins. Thank you, Lord, for giving me happiness to know You.

Have you accepted Christ? How long have you been following the Lord?

I get up early to pray. I trust in the Lord in all my situations. I will always be His student. In 2009 I was in hospital with pneumonia. When my wife came to visit me and asked me what to bring me nest time, I told het to bring me the Bible. Then not doctors and medicined healed me, but my faith in God.

Tell about one thing your sponsor needs to know about you.

I lived during WW II. I was 1 when my father went to the war. My brothers were 4 and 7. I know well what it is to go to bed hungry. I praise God for bringing our father back alive and healthy. Out of our family, there are my sister and my younger brother who are still living. I am 83 now. My pension is small and my healthy is not good. Within 6 months I was hospitalized three times. My Bible is the first thing I bring to hospital with me. I am very thankful to Roger McMurrin for both spiritual and material help. I am very happy to be in church for 15 years now. I am convinced that it is my Savior Who brought me into this church – I will serve Him till my last breath. Despite the situation in Ukraine I keep on praying and believe that God is with us because He loves us. I pray day and night hoping that the Lord will hear us. I will praise my Heavenly Father as long as I live. For faith in Him is my life.
